Hi All
It has been a few weeks, and I apologize been busy. I am going to try not to get on a soap box but after talking to a few friends about recent happenings lately in the South and just views I wanted to speak my peace on something.
My title probably doesn't tell you much so I want to get into it this way. Books, what makes us read them, a lot of times its because of the cover what we see on the outside rather its a bright picture or a good visual description of what the story is about. Then normally we flip it read the back and get a brief summary of what it is about. With those little things and maybe the word of mouth of others we base our opinions on that to buy and read or to not. Now in most cases if its not appealing in any way we do not even give it a second glance we move on and read another. I think this method is flawed. Some of the greatest works in history never had frilly covers, I seriously doubt the first edition of Dante's Inferno did. Just a few months ago I did the same thing I judged a book however I judged it with curiosity. The cover the description was enough to make me sit and go hummm it could be bad it could be good but I got to know. I bought that book and now I eagerly await the next one by the author. There are few books I have rarely ever been able to "not put down" it was one.
This judging by covers is said not only in books we as a people do it with everything food, houses, movies, music you name it its pretty much judged in one way shape or form. But, have you ever stopped to think what if we didn't judge what if we just went on a sense that something was the right thing to pick , see or do. What if we were just friends with people cause they got us. Which brings me to my next point, I am starting to think judging people in this way is wrong. One of my best friends makes me laugh so hard when he calls me his little nickname for me and I might regret putting it in here but I need it for my point... meximelt. Now, to understand that you have to know if you don't already that I am adopted and Spanish, Irish, Scotish decent, that I know of. I am pretty much a walking talking melting pot. Now he calls me that with love and our friendship is more then skin deep so to speak, he didn't look at me on the outside and go hum I don't know what she is so I choose to not be her friend. In my rambling let me get to the point. Just because people have long hair, tattoos, different skin-color, come from a different area, talk different, act different does not mean that you can't be friends it does not mean they are all bad it does not mean that they are all good either it just means they are people who granted by luck of draw might be a little different strictly by genetics. Besides some of the most BRILLIANT people I know are those that are just a little different, that break the norm so to speak.
That said because I am a slight music junky in some ways so I want to reference Lonely Train by Black Stone Cherry the chorus actually does fit.
But you can't judge a book
Looking at the cover
You can't love someone
While messing with another
No, you can't win a war
Fighting with your brother
You wanna have peace
Gotta love one another
So my task to everyone is this. LOVE.. don't judge on the outside get to know the person for who they are then make your choice. I am not saying that you will LOVE everyone you meet but I am saying that if you give people chances you might just realize that you "can not put them down" and they will stay your friends for a lifetime.

Why Can't We Be Friends?????
Aight, This is going to be a bit of a soap box and I apologize in advance for it, but I feel I might as well go ahead and get it out of the way...
Why is it that it seems no one and I mean no one can get along anymore unless we all are just like another. I mean this with respect but it is true.. and it goes one step further if your white look different have tattoos, hair a strange color, piercings you are seen as bad and a menace to society by your on people. For that matter other races do the same.. This has baffled me for years because though I'm not of mixed race I have always been viewed different by my own, for one reason I am different I know this, I don't blister, my eyes are browner then brown, girls dream of having my natural hair color and my skin, but I'm still just me. I'm adopted so yes I look different then my family , yes I have Spanish blood of some kind but that does not make me any different then my neighbors of the same race as I have just that I'm a bit tanner. Race shouldn't be about color at all in the first place, because lets face it there are many shades or white, brown , black. Our country so many times has been nearly destroyed with this age old debate..and is being destroyed now.
Before it goes any further . I'm far from racist some of my best friends are of different races then I .. that said ill straight up admit that I didn't vote for Obama for president, but it had nothing to do with the shade of his skin, I based it on a strictly political view that I didn't think he was right for this country, and as a US citizen I have that right to make that choice for myself. For the record if Powell or Rice ran i'd support them we share same political views and heck at one time in college I had hoped Rice would run.
I just wish as a people, as a nation, we could all get along. I think there would be a lot less violence, a lot less hatred if people would stop looking with their eyes and start looking with their minds and oh perish the thought their hearts? If it is true that we are all made in God's image anyways and this nation is really a "Nation Under God" then when is this concept so hard to grasp.
And I get that people are different, but I was told by a dear friend or least someone I consider dear that even old ladies shutter when he comes in to rooms because of his long hair (which isn't that bad) and tattoos (which can all be covered with a sleeve) that is stereotyping and sooo wrong about him on all levels. He is one of the smartest, most talented , big hearted people I have ever met and regardless of what his exterior looks like if they or anyone else would look into his face they would see kindness and know it is his true nature.
I just think people need to just look at people as people for their hearts, minds, soul their guts more or less and stop looking at the shell, people might be surprised as to who they meet, a new friend they might make , a new family member they might get. Change and yes even Friendship can start with one person just giving a smile, a wave, holding a door, letting someone in when traffic is buzzing because that will set off a chain of events of others showing acts of kindness.. I know not everyone was born kind but might surprise even the means ones as to how good it feels to be nice for a change. And then maybe just maybe we can stop judging and start working together cause if we don't , and i say this as a political science major, this country our people our way of life is in for a rough ride.

New and Improved Blog.. maybe
Hi all. Okay years ago I did have a blog called leleisms, it's probably out there somewhere but over the course of time has been lost. A friend started one and it inspired me to do the same in a way since I tend to rant about this that and the other to my mother least this way fewer battles happen. Now when I say battles I am in a way kidding, in a way not, but that could be a whole blog in itself.
I in no way think this will change any ones views on the world around them but I do hope to give some insight into what makes me tick as well as maybe the world from a different perspective. Not always the right one but just a different one.
This first one is going to be a little about me in a way and in a way not. There are many that will read this and be like wow I never knew that , there will be others that go that's my girl, and even more that will probably think I need to be in the loco bin. All of which is fine , for that matter I probably have thought all of my friends needed visit the bin every now and then.
Firstly, I'm 26 I in no way think I know it all , nor do I ever think I will. I do know a decent amount about many things, but that is because I have a bit of a geeky side watch a lot of history channel and a lot of discovery and read. Secondly, as stated already i do not think this will chance any ones views, for that matter i wouldn't be a good friend if i tried to. I am a firm believer in the fact that everyone has the rights to his or her own thoughts and feelings and beliefs, they are theirs and theirs alone and this is a right that cant be taken away from anyone Thirdly, that said yes i am a Christian, it is how i was raised, but due to many years and study in different cultures from being a history major i do know and understand other beliefs, I don't intend to make anyone see mine because in a way though mine are mostly Christian i do have a mix in my head of others and sometimes i share those beliefs as well.
My fourth point I'm going to jumble together to cover a few things mainly cause they come up randomly: . * to those that didn't know this I'm adopted, some of this leads to many personal beliefs. * I'm far from a saint but I do my best to live my life to where it is meaningful and worthwhile. * I have few regrets in my life I believe in learning from ever utoh, did I really do that? and what was I thinking moments, its how we grow as people.
As I said this is going to be Leleisms.. some times long, some times shorts. Some will make since some won't. It is primarily for me to just blow off random steam every now and then.
